The Nesbit’s Family Tradition
Nesbit’s long-standing commitment to horology began in 1895 when the company’s founder, Charles Nesbit, contracted with the N. D. and Soo Railroads. His company, Nesbit’s Jewelry was commissioned to service, repair and rebuild precision timepieces for conductors, engineers and railway stations. Timepiece accuracy was key in keeping trains on time and therefore, on track.
Charles excelled as a watchmaker and in turn, inspired and trained his son Bill to carry on with the family business. Bill also excelled and like his father, trained and inspired his son, Tom. As their family grew, the Nesbits moved west and established themselves in Seattle years ago.
Although Tom was trained by 2 generations of master watchmakers, he realized the importance of modern technology. He attended the Horology Program at NSCC where he currently serves as a member of their Technical Advisory Board. Later, his son Mackenzie graduated from NSCC’s new WOSTEP program where he currently serves as a guest instructor.
